New Project: Family Tree of Levy County, Fl
I have started a online tree that is an attempt to organize the different families of Levy Co. Florida into a database. It is always in the works; all information, sources and knowledge are included and listed. Currently the database consists of all individuals listed on the 1850 Federal Census for Levy County, Florida. Now, the task to entering all individuals, families, marriages and other events that makes up a family tree forward too and including the1930 Federal Census , need to be researched and entered into the data base.
Should you wish to help in this undertaking, please contact me. firstname.lastname@example.org I will be happy to send you a link to the tree and provide the credentials to edit/add individuals of the database.
Levy County was formed on the 10th of March 1845, from the Counties of Alachua and Marion. Alachua was formed in 1842 from Duval and St. Johns. Duval was formed in 1822 from the original St. Johns County. Marion was formed in 1844 from parts of Alachua, Hillsborough, and Mosquito, now Orange County in 1845. The County received its name from the first U.S. Senator from Florida, David Levy Yulee, whom also developed a 5,000 acre plantation on the Homosassa River. The town of Bronson was selected to be the County Seat.
Levy County is on the Gulf of Mexico, south of Gainesville and west of Ocala. It is bordered by Dixie, Gilchrist, Alachua, Marion, and Citrus counties. The county has 1,137 square miles of area. The average January temperature is 57.9 degrees F, and the average August temperature is 82.1 degrees F. The average annual rainfall is 45.30 inches.

This site is dedicated to my grandmother Gladys E. Wood. (1922-2001), Born in Cross City, Florida as the youngest daughter of Henry Leroy Wood of Chiefland, Levy Co. Fl. and the eldest daughter of Ella V. Mikell. Though she was born in adversity, raised in times of trouble, she prevailed and created a family that is unique and truly one of a kind. She will be remembered by all that were touched by her kindness and love.
